Core Network Infrastructure Upgrade
Desktop as a Service Design & Migration
We had lots of servers and virtual machines in our network. When we first set up those virtual machines, we started with the manufacturer’s recommendations for the setup on the physical box. The manufacturer would tell us, ‘you need 4GB of RAM, 2 dual-core CPUs, and a certain amount of hard disk space.’ But we wanted to go beyond that and try to ‘right-size’ each of our VMs.
We asked Chris Ward, GreenPages’ Director of Solutions Architecture, what he recommended. The people at GreenPages see a lot of ‘in-the-trenches’ action, so they can tell you, ‘This works and this doesn’t.’ They’re a very useful technical resource.
The way GreenPages set up the switches was just incredible. I can’t say enough good things—they just helped me with everything and it all went very smoothly.
We built in a lot of redundancy. If one of the hosts has a physical problem, vMotion moves everything to other servers automatically. It’s a great technology. This is really the most stable system I have ever seen. The people at GreenPages really know their stuff...Great technology matched with superior knowledge and skills makes for a great outcome.
They were very professional. They planned things out, then worked to the plan. We ran into a situation where we needed some equipment, and it was backordered. Somehow, GreenPages worked some magic and got what we needed—they got us to the head of the line.
The engineer that GreenPages sent us was phenomenal. It’s nice to know the guy working on the project onsite knows what he’s talking about. Part of the training took a little longer than planned, but GreenPages just altered their schedule and stayed over until the next day. Whenever we had
a follow-up question or a ‘punch list’ item, we were able to get in touch with the same engineer and get answers to our questions quickly.
I can’t say enough about GreenPages. This whole experience convinced us that we were absolutely with the right company.
We wanted access to some new tools available with the new versions of Exchange and Active Directory. Plus, Microsoft was about to stop supporting our versions of the software. That gave us sort of a push.
GreenPages has the specialists, the know-how, and the real-world experience. They can tell you, ‘These are the best practices. The industry standards are X, Y, and Z.’ GreenPages was always there on the follow-through. They kept supporting us even after the sign-off.
We already had a good relationship with GreenPages, so they were our first call. We had a plan, but wanted validation. The majority of the work went into the planning stage and we spent quite a bit of time on testing. To start, we set up a test lab and migrated one child domain. There were a lot of little issues that came up and GreenPages’ engineering people helped us solve some of the hiccups.
On a complex project, you really need someone to be accountable, to be the ‘coach’ of the project. GreenPages helps clients by adding expertise in coordination, risk management, and change control.
I would wholeheartedly recommend GreenPages to anyone of my peers in the IT industry as a consultant, integrator and all purposes.
We hired GreenPages to do a VDI assessment of our environment to help us move forward with virtual desktops. They provided an assessment and gave us the steps we needed to take to get to where we need to be.
I would definitely recommend GreenPages to anybody in our business, they got the deep bench, the superior technical knowledge and they understand our business.
I would recommend GreenPages to other partners and other colleagues hands down.
