Virtual desktop technology has already delivered significant benefits for staff and students alike. DBS can now operate a larger, more mobile and flexible course programme thanks to Citrix VDI-in-a-Box and NetScaler Access Gateway – ultimately ensuring that the college is able to offer its student base a superior technology experience. This deployment has also future-proofed the infrastructure for when DBS further expands its portfolio with online and blended learning courses.
In terms of the allocation of IT resources, two days per week were taken up managing the backup and retrieval of imagery on the old system. From a business perspective, the implementation of this solution was a seamless process and there was no disruption to front-line staff. We’re very happy with the solution; we’ve been using it for a while now and have had no issues with it. In fact, I’m planning to start storing other imagery, such as cardiology data, on the system in the near future. We’re very satisfied with the technology proposed by Unity.
By using IAM Cloud, we have minimised staff and student downtime and we can carry out maintenance work on our on-premises infrastructure without affecting email accessibility. The IAM Cloud Support Team provide an excellent service. The response time is swift and any issues are always resolved very quickly. IAM Cloud has become more customer focused with a big improvement in communications.

We were delighted when Unity Technology Solutions offered their expertise in a voluntary capacity – the new telephone system will significantly improve statistical reporting and will allow us to continue to provide a valuable listening service as we endeavour to answer significantly more calls and give children the support they need for many years to come.
