As one of the only regionally based Telstra Platinum (Cloud & Services) partners, RMT is a highly performing MSP with a rich history of growth over the last 25 years. We currently support over 4500 desktops and servers across Australia, with networks ranging in size from 5 to over 900 users and are looking for an experienced IT Technician to support our rapid growth in a Level 1 role in our Townsville or Armidale offices.

About the role:

The level 1 technician role is a great opportunity for a junior technician to kick-start their career, enjoying the support and assistance from experienced Systems Administrators and Systems and Network Engineers within our team.

Some key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provide first-level help desk support to clients, either face-to-face or by phone.
  • Taking calls, logging, maintaining, and completing IT support tickets via the internal help desk system.
  • Troubleshooting and correcting user desktop, hardware and software problems remotely.
  • Office 365 administrative tasks (e.g. creation of users, groups, and shared mailboxes).
  • Administration of users/groups, etc in Active Directory.
  • Administration of business computer networks.
  • Provision of computer and network security and protection.
  • Preparing, deploying, maintaining, and repairing IT equipment
  •  

About you (desirable skills and traits of our ideal candidate):

  • Completed, or the willingness and ability to complete, an IT qualification at Certificate 3 level or above AND/OR recent IT Support Desk/Network Administration experience.
  • Good understanding of basic IT Principles across Network, Server, and Desktop environments.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft desktop operating systems (Windows Server 2019, 2016, 2012 R2, 2012, Windows 7, 8 & 10).
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft desktop applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong ability to follow documented procedures, prioritise tasks, and self-manage workload.
  • Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Microsoft certification (MTA, MCSA, MCSE), desirable.
  • Experience in the use of MYOB products, ConnectWise Manage and SolarWinds N-Central, desirable
