About the role 

As a Senior Platform Engineer you will work collaboratively with other team members and our clients to deliver business outcomes using your skills in automation, cloud computing engineering and solid understanding of deployment pipelines and containerisation.

Within our company no two days will be the same, whether this be day-to-day tasks, industry you’re working in or the tech stack you are using. That is why the most important skills you possess will be adaptability and eagerness to learn as well as an understanding of the core DevOps principles.

• designing and implementing technology solutions that meet and exceed customer requirements and expectations 
• planning, managing and supporting the delivery of cloud solutions 
• assisting in the development of best practices associated with cloud solutions 
• effectively utilizing development best practices such as CI/CD
• actively participating in all team agile development practices 
• ensuring appropriate quality is maintained through practices such as unit testing, automation and monitoring 
• managing technology across the full stack on our production systems, including: systems administration, scaling systems, automation and optimisation 
• monitoring and assessing industry developments and incorporate them into solutions where appropriate 
• advising and up-skilling delivery teams in structuring systems and leveraging cloud platform capabilities
• mentoring junior team members to become the next generation of leaders
• working within agile software delivery teams on customer sites
• helping our clients maintain and run reliable applications and systems
• actively participating in knowledge sharing sessions with team members  
• promoting good software engineering and DevOps practices
• applying best practices to security in everything you do
• keeping your skills up to date and always be looking for continuous improvement
• developing documentation as good as the solutions you create
• using automation and testing to make systems not only fast but reliable and repeatable

What you'll need to be successful:

• experience in software delivery or as an engineer maintaining applications and infrastructure within Azure
• experience building and maintaining cloud based applications and platform, as well as familiarity with agile software delivery and DevOps principles (systems thinking, continuous improvement)
• the ability to build and maintain client relationships
• a keen interest in automation and leveraging modern technology and tools to speed up delivery of applications and services
• the ability to script in at least one language and have a willingness to learn new ones
• the expertise to advise clients on the right technology and solutions for the given business context
• excellent verbal and written communication skills
• strong time management skills with ability to prioritize workloads under pressure and meet deadlines 
• a self-starting attitude, be hands on, and know how to find answers and work with ambiguity
• a values driven and practical approach
